Shawn Matthew Kitchens

SAVANNAH – Shawn Matthew Kitchens passed away suddenly in a single car accident on January 24, 2012.
Shawn was born on October 2, 1962 in Savannah, GA to John Patrick Kitchens and Phyllis Hendricks Saunders. Shawn grew up in East Side Savannah and attended Cathedral Day School, Benedictine Military School, and graduated from Savannah High School in 1982. He enjoyed playing football and basketball throughout his high school years. He resided on Tybee Island until 2004 when he moved to Sylvania, GA.
Shawn was raised in the Catholic faith and later converted to Baptist. He was a former member of the Fenian Society and loved marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. He was employed by the I.L.A., local 1475.
Shawn was a great friend to all and loved life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Bridget Friese Kitchens; his son, Shawn-Michael Patrick Kitchens; four daughters, Elizabeth Kitchens, Deanna White, Lanna South, and Kristal Kitchens. Also surviving are his mother, Phyllis H. Saunders; two sisters, Thresa Kitchens Whitten and Amanda Kitchens Yarbrough Chris; an uncle, Keith Hendricks Lori; four step-brothers, Richard Saunders, Jr. Lori, Dr. David Saunders Paige, Dr. Kevin Saunders, and Gregory Saunders Jenny; his father-in-law Ron Friese and his wife Nancy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Buddy and Kimberly Friese, Tricia and Tim Smith, Ronda and Bill Cantrell, and Brenda Miller; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 pm, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2012, in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Don't remember seeing much of Shawn since High school days, but we were pretty close up till then.
